Terms of Service

Last updated: 07.08.2026

The short version (not legally binding, just so you know what you are reading): you are buying a perpetual licence to use Nyra in your own music, on your own computers, for as long as you like. There is no online activation, no dongle and no time limit. Your licence key is personal — it carries your name and email inside it, so please do not share it. If Nyra is not for you, see our Refunds & Right of Withdrawal page. The binding text is below.

1. Who you are dealing with

These terms govern every purchase and every use of software made available at manso works  by ("we", "us", "our"). "You" means the person or organisation buying or using the software. Where you act as a consumer, mandatory consumer law in your country of residence applies in addition to these terms and takes precedence wherever it gives you more protection.

2. What we sell

Nyra is an audio plug-in for music production, delivered as a digital download in the AU, VST3 and Standalone formats. It is a spectral (STFT) delay: it splits the incoming signal into frequency bands and applies an independent delay to each one.

Nyra Lite is the same software running without a licence key. It is free, has no time limit, and is not a demo in the usual sense: it restricts which controls and presets you can edit, never what the plug-in can play. Sessions and presets made with the full version load and sound correct in Lite. Section 8 sets out the terms that apply to Lite specifically.

System requirements. macOS 10.15 or later (Universal, Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows 10 or later. A 64-bit host that supports AU, VST3, or use of the Standalone application. Nyra introduces processing latency inherent to spectral processing (approximately 46 / 23 / 12 ms at 44.1 kHz for the 2048 / 1024 / 512 FFT sizes, plus the output stage); this is a property of the technology, is documented on the product page, and is not a defect.

Nyra Lite is free precisely so that you can establish, before paying anything, that the software runs in your system and that its latency and CPU load suit your work.

3. How a contract comes about; price and tax

Product pages are an invitation to purchase, not a binding offer. You make an offer by completing the checkout; the contract is formed when we confirm the order or, at the latest, when we make the download and licence key available to you. The contract language is English.

Prices are shown on the Site before you order, in the currency and with the tax treatment displayed at checkout for your location. Payment is processed by our payment providers; we never receive or store your full card details.

4. Delivery

Delivery is electronic and, in the normal case, immediate: after payment you receive a download link and a licence key by email at the address you gave at checkout.

If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then contact [SUPPORT EMAIL] with your order number. A delivery failure or a lost key is never a refund matter — we will re-send or re-issue your key free of charge, for as long as we operate the Site. Because our licensing is fully offline (Section 6), keeping your key file backed up is worth a minute of your time.

5. Right of withdrawal and refunds

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you have a statutory right of withdrawal. Because Nyra is digital content delivered immediately, that right can lapse — but only if you have expressly consented to immediate delivery and acknowledged the consequence before the download begins, which is what the confirmation checkbox at checkout is for.

Separately from and in addition to your statutory rights, we offer a voluntary money-back guarantee. Both are set out in full, and kept strictly apart, on our Refunds & Right of Withdrawal page, which forms part of these terms.

6. Your licence

When your payment has been received, we grant you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Nyra, subject to these terms. The licence does not expire, does not require renewal, and does not depend on any server remaining online.

You may:

a) install and use Nyra on all computers you personally own or control, provided you are the only person using it. If Nyra will be used by more than one person — a studio, a team, a company — you need one licence per person who uses it; b) use Nyra commercially without restriction: music, recordings, film, games, advertising, live performance, client work, sound design sold on. Anything you produce with Nyra is yours. We claim no rights in it, ask no royalty and require no credit; c) create, save, share and sell your own presets, curve shapes, stories and preset packs — these are your work, not ours; d) keep backup copies of the installer and of your licence key; e) transfer the licence permanently to another person once, if you notify us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] first so that we can re-issue the key in the new owner's name, and you delete every copy you hold. A licence obtained at a free, promotional or educational price is not transferable.

You may not:

f) share, publish, resell, rent, lend, sub-licence or upload your licence key, or make it available in any key generator, "crack", forum post or repository; g) distribute the installer as if it were yours, bundle it into another product, or make it available for download from anywhere other than the Site; h) remove, obscure or alter any copyright notice, licensee name or licensing mechanism, or attempt to circumvent the licence check; i) redistribute our factory presets as a preset pack, sample pack or product of your own. Using them in your music is exactly what they are for (see b); selling them back as content is not; j) reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it (in particular the interoperability provisions of § 69e German Copyright Act / Article 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC), and except for those parts of the software governed by an open-source licence that grants you those rights (Section 10).

We retain all rights not expressly granted here. Nyra is licensed, not sold, and nothing in these terms transfers ownership of the software or of any intellectual property in it.

7. Your licence key — and why it is personal

Your key is a single line of text beginning NYRA1- (keys issued before the product was renamed begin SPECTRE1- and remain valid). It is an RSA-signed proof of purchase. Please understand three things about it, because they are unusual and they are in your favour:

a) It is verified entirely on your machine. There is no online activation, no activation limit, no dongle and no phone-home. Nyra does not contact us to check anything — not at install, not at start-up, not ever. It works offline, on an air-gapped machine, and it will keep working if we go out of business. b) Because of (a), the key is a bearer credential. Whoever has the text has the software. We cannot remotely disable a key that has been shared, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can do is stop supporting it and refuse to re-issue it. c) Your key contains your name, your email address and your order reference, signed so that they cannot be edited without invalidating the key. That is deliberate: it is how the key can work offline, and it means a key that appears in public is traceable to the account it was issued to. Nyra displays the licensee name in its interface. If you would rather your key carried a company name or a pseudonym, tell us at checkout or write to [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will issue it that way.

Sharing your key, in any of the ways listed in Section 6(f), terminates your licence with immediate effect (Section 12) and ends any refund entitlement under our voluntary guarantee.

8. Nyra Lite (free version)

Nyra Lite is provided free of charge. Sections 6(f) to 6(j) apply to it in full. In addition:

a) You may use Lite for as long as you like, including in commercial work, on the same terms as Section 6(b). It is not time-limited, contains no watermark, no noise burst and no output dip. b) Because Lite is free, we give no availability, support or compatibility undertaking for it, and we may change, restrict or discontinue it at any time. This does not affect any paid licence. c) Which controls and presets Lite unlocks is our decision and may change between versions. Sessions you have already made keep playing: the audio path is identical in both versions and we intend to keep it that way. d) Entering a valid key turns the same installation into the full version. There is nothing else to install and nothing to uninstall.

9. Data protection, and what the software does on your computer

How we handle personal data — your name, email address, order and licence data — is described in our Privacy Policy. What the software itself does is short enough to state here, and we state it because it is unusual:

a) Nyra collects no data and contains no analytics, telemetry, tracking or update check. It makes exactly one outgoing connection in its entire codebase, and only when you click the shop link in the upgrade panel yourself: it opens that address in your default browser. Nothing is transmitted to us at any other time. b) Nyra writes only to your own computer: your licence key, your interface preferences, your favourites list, and the presets, shapes and stories you save. Those files stay where they are if you uninstall, so you do not lose your work. c) Your licence key contains the personal data described in Section 7(c). It is stored on your own machine and is never sent anywhere by the software.

10. Third-party and open-source components

Nyra is built with third-party software components, including the JUCE framework, each governed by its own licence terms. Those terms prevail over these terms for the components they cover, including where they grant you rights that Section 6(j) would otherwise restrict. A current list of components and their licences is available on request from [email protected].

11. Updates, support, and end of life

a) Updates. Your purchase includes free updates. Updates are offered when they are ready; we do not promise a schedule, a feature, or a release date, and a feature mentioned in marketing material as planned is not part of the contract.

b) Support. We provide support by email at [email protected] and aim to reply within 7 days. Support covers installation, licensing and defects. It does not cover teaching music production, third-party hosts, or your operating system.

 c) Compatibility. Operating systems, hosts and plug-in formats change in ways we do not control. We will make reasonable efforts to keep Nyra working, but we cannot guarantee that a future version of macOS, Windows or any DAW will run it. This is why your licence does not depend on our servers: the version you have keeps working on the system you have. d) Discontinuation. If we stop selling or developing Nyra, your licence and your installed copies are unaffected — there is nothing to switch off.

12. Term and termination

Your licence runs indefinitely. It ends automatically, without notice, if you materially breach Section 6 or Section 7 — in particular by sharing or publishing your key — and it ends if you are refunded, whether under your statutory right of withdrawal, under our voluntary guarantee, or by way of a payment reversal. When the licence ends you must stop using the software and delete every copy of it and of your key. Sections 6 (retained rights), 13, 14 and 16 survive termination.

13. Warranty and conformity

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights in respect of digital content that is not as described or not fit for its purpose. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes those rights, and nothing in this section applies where it would conflict with them.

Beyond those statutory rights, and to the extent permitted by law, the software is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it is free of all defects, that it will meet your specific requirements, or that it will run in every combination of host and operating system. Where we owe you conformity, our first remedy is to fix the problem in an update; if we cannot, the refund routes in Section 5 apply.

14. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under mandatory product liability law, and where we have given an express guarantee.

For slight negligence, we are liable only where we breach a material contractual obligation — an obligation whose fulfilment is essential to the purpose of this contract and on which you were entitled to rely — and then only for foreseeable damage typical of this kind of contract.

Any other liability is excluded to the extent the law permits. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.

Please back up your work. As with any plug-in, a session that depends on Nyra depends on Nyra being installed and licensed. Keep your projects, your presets and your licence key backed up.

15. Hearing safety and monitoring levels

Nyra is a delay with feedback, spectral pitch shifting and per-band gain. Certain settings — high feedback, extreme curves, resonant feedback with drive — can produce a sudden and substantial increase in output level. The plug-in includes a safety output stage (a soft clipper or a look-ahead limiter) and caps feedback below unity, but no safety stage can protect you from a monitoring chain turned up too far. Reduce your monitoring level before experimenting, and take particular care with headphones. You are responsible for your monitoring levels; we are not liable for damage to hearing or to equipment caused by output levels under your control, save as provided in Section 14.

16. Governing law, disputes, and general

a) Law. Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or the UK, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence. b) Courts. For consumers, the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply. If you contract as a business, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is our registered seat. c) Consumer dispute resolution. [ADR: ja/nein] — Statement required by § 36 German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG). Use exactly one of: "We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board." / "We take part in dispute resolution proceedings before the following consumer arbitration board: [NAME, ADDRESS, WEBSITE]." d) Changes. We may change these terms for future purchases. The version you agreed to at checkout governs your purchase; we will not apply a later version retroactively to your licence. e) Severability. If a provision is or becomes invalid, the rest remains in force. f) Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us regarding Nyra.
